How is it gay to idolize a female singer?

Cathy Nguyen from Youtube is my idol and I want to be famous just like her and people call me gay because of that. Tons of vietnamese guys idolize male singers and they don't get called that and I get called gay. Why are people calling me gay because I idolize Cathy ???
